The New England Fudge Co. was brought to northeastern New York over 30 years ago, however the roots of our fudge recipe are in Salem, Mass. Developed over 100 years ago, our research suggests our recipe for fudge is the oldest fudge recipe in the country. We are the last candy makers in the country putting the original recipe to use. With the freshest dairy cream and butter along with the highest quality flavorings, our fudge quickly became one of New England’s finest. The recipe began the famous Connelly's Candy Stores, which were located in and around the eastern Massachusetts' shores. The chain of Connelly Candy Stores closed in the 1940's. Before they closed, one of Connnelly's employees went to work for another candy store, "taking" the recipe with him. Our fudge was in production again. A decade of retirement for the recipe came during the 70's until it was resurrected by a descendent of the original recipe and brought to New York in the late 1970's.
Although we have meticulously developed and added new flavors to our repertoire, we continue on with the recipe's heritage using only the finest quality ingredients. Our fudge is hand stirred, in small batches, in copper kettles, just the way it was over 100 years ago. We continue to make the commitment to not adding modern day preservatives or mold inhibitors. This is the real deal!
